Analyst, Investor, Student, Animal Lover, Gaming Enthusiast, Saarthi, Hindu Nationalist, Seeker and Chaitanya! I take immense pride as a Bhaaratiya and as a Hindu - I have complete faith that the Sanatani value system can truly guide us towards inner peace which forms the nucleus of all my actions. I like to think of myself as a Thought Provoker and an Inquisitive Traveler committed to my nation’s tryst with destiny - to realize the dreams of Arya Chanakya, Swami Vivekananda, Veer Savarkar, Shivaji Maharaj, APJ Abdul Kalam and many more. My Faith: No cause is lost if there is 1 mad guy left to fight for it! My Motto: God give me courage to change what I can, the strength to accept what I can’t and the wisdom to know the difference! My Principle: Ask not what the nation does for you, ask what you can do for your nation! My Driving Force: Karen Raven's quote, "Only as high as I reach can I grow, only as far as I seek can I go, only as deep as I look can I see, only much as I dream can I be" My Goal: To make myself a better person today, than what I was yesterday!

Learning What is Not Taught

There are many bad stories doing the rounds currently and hence when I read a piece of good news it brightened me up.
I'll be posting the link where I happened to read it later but basically its an inspiration story derived from the 3 Idiots.
Many of us have watched the movie. Unfortunately for the nation, when asked what we liked the most about the movies some common answers have been Chatur's Speech, The last reunion scene, Rancho's Parody of the director, the scene where Pia is drunk in Rancho's room and many more. We enjoyed the hilarious movie which is at times said to be comedy. But is that movie only a comedy movie or we can take away something from it? Something of great substance and implement it in our lives?

Why can't we have the answers like, this movie taught me to be focused. It showed me the importance of understanding concepts and going after excellence rather than running after success. No, these answers are allergic to our minds and force us to think and hence we don't wan't that. But someone did notice it and they happen to be premier teachers of the nation. They are the faculty of IIM-A, the best B school in the country.
Inspired by the movie, the management has now introduced an elective subject in their MBA course going by the name LWNT(Learning What is Not Taught). The faculty were mightily inspired by the movie and they understood the importance to teach students something called life. Our education in schools/colleges I believe constitutes hardly 10/15% of our learning. What is to be learnt is never presented on a platter. Life, the greatest teacher, always teaches in a scintillating and exhilarating fashion.
I had heard this quote somewhere, "Schools teach and then conduct an exam while Life conducts the exam and then teaches out of it".
Through this elective the IIM-A faculty plans to teach the students what is not taught in normal course of study and thus equip them in a better way for the challenges of life. In this novel concept there would be video talks from great successful people around and their experiences.
Wow! I can say they have got the meaning of the movie '3 Idiots'. Those of us who believe in such thoughts, they have got '3 Idiots'.
They have used the 2nd sight, i.e. view of the minds. Eyes can see to a certain extent, the mind can see way beyond.
This story, we can hardly see in "normal" news, but well, if good things are called abnormal, then they very well be so.
I wish to highlight the fact that the education system in our country which is more like a one track zone, mug up and spit it out, is changing. If the IIM-A has initiated it, its a big positive development and will definitely lead to the growth of the nation.
My salute to this action of the IIM-A faculty and all those involved including the team of '3 Idiots' who were instrumental in this big step being taken. With all the gory sights around us, this is the ray of hope.
May this move inspire more educational institutes to come up with such creative ideas and feed the growth of the system.
